A "Rainey" Weekend

Last weekend before Chris and I left for our honeymoon; the Rainey family came to visit! My sister and her family stopped into town to stay for the night before they drove to San Antonio the next day.  They were only here for a little bit but it was great to see them and so nice of them to come down to visit us. We went to our family's favorite place, Blue Baker, and took a stroll around George Bush Library, another favorite Aggieland Landmark for the Schacht/Koch family. I can't believe how big Eleanor is getting! She is still sweet as ever but she has turned her volume knob up a little, she is no longer a quiet little baby.  Eleanor is full of energy and excitement and she is such a sweetheart. Some of her new hobbies include jumping, eating cheetos, watching Sesame Street, calling her mother by her first name,  playing with the bubbles I bought her for her birthday and she LOVES to see her Uncle Bubby. Chris is so good with kids and I think he adores Eleanor just as much as she adores him.
Here are some pictures of our weekend together.

All Hail the Dog Queen!

Now that the wedding madness is over, Chris and I have officially settled into our humble abode. Bella (our dog, I don’t have an imaginary friend) and I moved in a couple of weeks before the wedding and Chris moved in after we got back from Dallas.  With the last few boxes unpacked and after my failed attempt to do some decorating, our tiny duplex has slowly but surely become a home. Everything has found its place, except for our dog; that is until about a couple of weeks ago. Bella has always been, let’s see, how do I say this… or maybe as Chris would say it “a princess”. She is a great dog; well behaved, active, obedient (most of the time) and cute as can be. However, our little sweetheart has one flaw; she is a full blown spoiled dog-child. Yes ladies and gentlemen, Chris and I are officially what you would call “dog people”.  Not those crazy ones that have their deceased dogs stuffed and not the ones that enjoy giving their dogs manicures and insist on having them wear tiny sweaters that say “Dog-gone Adorable” but we are nonetheless “dog people”. Don’t believe me?
Ladies and gentlemen of the jury, may I present to you figure 1:

Yes, there she is, Bella the Dog Queen in all her glory.  I warned you didn’t I? Please take this time to point and laugh at the failed dog owners.  We have officially passed the torch of “alpha dog” to our own dog. Oh how the tables have turned. As you can see, Bella has found her spot in our guest room or should I say HER room!  If you look below her you will notice that Chris has provided her with his old towels to protect our guest bed but I think his good intentions have just made it even more comfortable for her royal highness.  But not to worry, if you care to come visit us you will have a bed, you will just have to share it with the queen.

Long live the queen!

Taking the plunge

After many years of reluctance and anxiety I finally took the plunge and..... got a blog.  I figure it's time for Chris and I to contribute to the blogging world since we have spent countless minutes (I won't say hours because that makes us seem like losers) reading blogs of our friends and family, hopefully our blog can supply as  much laughter and entertainment! Since we don't have kids, our blog won't be as excited as you old married folks, but ever since I graduated last May I have been craving for some kind of project to do so here I am, boring posts and all. I'm pretty bad at this HTML stuff (despite the fact I took an entire course on it in high school) so if our blog looks like crap there is your explanation, but hey, at least we are trying right?

Let's see, what's new in the newly formed Houghton household? Oh that's right, we got married! Chris and I were married on January 15 at the Dallas LDS Temple and I think I can speak for Chris and say it was easily the best day of our lives! We were so blessed to have our wonderful support system of family and friends there. The weekend started out with an amazing rehearsal dinner thanks to Ted and Hettie, the Reata in Ft. Worth was a great location for both of our families to come together and have a yummy meal!
The next afternoon we were sealed in the Dallas LDS temple. As I walked into the room where the ceremony was held, I had to take a mental step back in order to prevent my infamous tears from flooding the room, you could really feel the love.  That evening we had our reception which was fantastic! My family did such a great job getting everything together and my Mother was the best wedding coordinator a bride could ask for.

Thanks to both of our families and to our wonderful friends for taking the time and making the trip to come to our wedding! We love you guys!

Here are some photos from our wedding weekend!

These first two are samples from our photographer Emily Brenner, she was awesome!

We had the best bridal party! This is us with our sweet friend Megan; my other wedding coordinator.

After the ceremony in front of the temple. For more information about temples click here.
Dancing with my step-father, Nick.
Our cakes were the bomb and they tasted great!
